“There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass! Who's been pinching my beer?"
R.I.P. Terry Pratchett. Your writing was inspiring.

I put down Under the Tuscan Sun because my brain's not processing. So reading a book I got from the library and even though I'm about half through I'm not enjoying it. Dubious consent, despicable best friend character, and soul mates. Ugh. Oh and sex without condoms. Apparently this is book 5 in the series. I'm going to try book 1 tomorrow when I go to the library and get it. But anyway I'm reading Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale by Christine Warren. Is the book She's No Faerie Princess part of that series? I picked up that one from a bargain table on a lark and found it a bit insubstantial. And yes, the "mate" thing was annoying. I'd almost think you're reading the book I'm providing editorial advice on for a colleague except I don't think we've had non-con yet...I've tried to point out to him that soul mates are an awful trope, and he should stop using it, but I'm not sure it's sunk in yet. I also wish he'd back off the making everyone suffer just to freak out the protagonist. There are other ways to create tension...

Farther down the line than what I'm at right now. I picked up book 1 at the library and I'm working on finishing book 5. But seriously even though the best friend was described once and we've only had 2 interactions with her I want to strangle her. At BEST this book is getting 3 stars but it's looking at about 1 or 2 right now.

I also wish he'd back off the making everyone suffer just to freak out the protagonist. There are other ways to create tension... This book it's called heart mates which I'll admit, I like the sound of a LOT better but it's the basic soul mate trope. If you've read Sherrilyn Kenyon's were-hunter series when it comes to soul mates according to the whom the fates decide should be together (only that one shows up after the first time they have sex) it's kind of like that. Only the guy knows that's what's happening and he hasn't told the girl yet. And I want to bash my head into the keyboard. Over and over again. I can deal with Kenyon's. Because both parties know/get told basically when it happens. And despite it, they're still free to make their own choices. But the idea that they can't make their own choices....ugh Once I write my review of this (in a day or two depending on how much longer it takes to finish) I can link you and you can show him exactly what some of us think of the soul mates trope because I won't be nice about it. I can't finish that book right now. I can't even read it right now. It's not going to get finished for another 2-3 years minimum (basically once people stop talking about it and I can get the ending of it out of my head so I can enjoy the book) because stupid assholes who are now not my friends anymore have decided to spoil the book for me.

Somehow I managed not to hear any spoilers on GG. And I'm online often. Weird.
I'm 1/3 through Stephen King's Revival now. Should be done this weekend.

Just found an interesting few books.
Humans: An A-Z guide. Should be very helpful. Blending in with you humans is tough enough as it is.
A Study In Scarlet. It's Sherlock Holmes. About time I actually read them.
Look Who's Back In the summer of 2011, Adolf Hitler wakes up alive and well in a field in Berlin. No-one thinks he's the real Hitler, instead that he's a method actor that refuses to break character. He looks at the state of modern Germany and doesn't like it. He then becomes a Youtube sensation and starts his new political campaign.

Currently reading 'Colorworld' by Rachel E Kelly for review. It's an interesting and rather modern take on special abilities/super powers.

This is sadly turning into more of a research project than just looking for a good book recommendation at this point. Does anyone know of a romance novel with a bisexual, monogamous heroine without any angst attached to her bisexuality? I'd be happy with a het or lesbian pairing (or something outside the binary, if the author doesn't fuck it up). I just really want to read a romance about a bisexual woman who's bisexual not for drama or sexy shenanigans or some coming out story, but just because...bisexuals exist. The closest I've found so far is Cathy Pegau's Rulebreaker, which is now on my to-read list. But surely there are more? I've found a bunch with bisexual heroes, but that's not what I'm looking for.

I don't know for certain that they'll have what you're looking for, CeeEm, but Bold Strokes Books is a publisher specializing in LGBTQ novels. You can check out their catalog at www.boldstrokesbooks.com.

I'm still reading Clever Maids but right now my mind's wandering on it so I'm working on making my library book pile shorter and finishing up Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness series (I'm on the last book, Lioness Rampant) and enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Finally working my way through Jim Butcher's Codex Alera books that I've had since maybe the beginning of time. It's weird seeing him write in third person but I'm still crazy in to it.

I'm currently reading "History of World Economics" by Rolf Walter, and it's just urgh. And I don't mean the "With that title, it has to put you to sleep!"-urgh, but the "I really expected something better and more stringent than a collection of examples and methods"-kind of urgh. At least the Medieval stuff gives me ideas for my Fantasy project.
And with the Apollonia reviews continuing, I'm looking for New Adult book recommendations, preferrably romance and without any Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Paranormal/etc. elements. Any good ideas?
