Long-time lurker, first-time poster, excited that these forums exist. I figured that some people on this blog may well have gone to see the Fifty Shades movie out of curiosity or grim fascination (or because they enjoyed the books). I'm not going for reasons, but I was wondering what you guys made of it if you had seen? Is it better than the book? How did they handle the abusive stuff? How was the sex? And if you aren't going to see it, why not? Peace Trout Nation!

I have no plans to see it, at least in the theaters. I don't get out to the movies much unless the kidlet wants to see something with a talking sponge, or talking snowman, etc.
I read the first book and that was enough for me.

I'll probably eventually watch it through Netflix just because, but I'm really reluctant to go to a theatre for it. Nobody will go with me and just getting out to the movies is hard enough, so I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Now, if I had a really fun group to see it with, that might make the effort worth it.

So, we'll organise a Trout Nation outing with a shit ton of wine, snacks, and snark. It's agreed.

Same here. I don't have friends in town for a meet-up at the local cinema pub. I would require at least one cocktail.

I don't want to see it but I'm kind of morbidly fascinated by it, so it'll probably happen one day. Ideally with supportive and snarky friends around me. No plans to see it at the cinema, though.

I just checked rottentomatoes again. The movie has already dropped to 28 % on the tomatometer since yesterday when it was 44 %. But I guess the majority of 'fans' won't be turned away by bad reviews.

I'm planning on visiting a certain bay of pirates for it at some point. I refuse to throw money at this travesty.

I just wanted to go on record and say I have not plans now or in the future to see this movie. I will not spend my time or money on it. Maybe, sometime in the distant future, when it makes it to late night TV . . . Well since I don't watch TV, probably not even then. Okay I said my piece. That is it for the amount of time I want to spend on this. Thank you!

So. Much. Love. I'm thinking about going, just for the lulz. I'm generally terrible about watching movies, though.

I'm going to wait til either it gets to netflix or until I can find a decent version online. So that when I need to take breaks I can take them when I need them and not miss the movie

I will not watch it, but I look forward to Jenny's commentary. It pleases me to know that those I know who have watched it were not too impressed. They didn't say it was bad, only that they were expecting more.
