I just fancied starting a thread about the things that really, really wind us up but seem to petty to make a big thing of.
I'll start. It really annoys me when people say "marshmellow" instead of "marshmallow."
It also annoys me when people walk too slowly in front of me in shops.
And when the skin on a banana is too soft to peel properly, so it just bends and refuses to break.
Enter your pathetic rage-makers here...

Books without very much dialogue. Just a whole lot of "and then this happened and then that happened and then they felt like this but had a conversation which lol I won't show you."
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

The notion that somebody else can get away with something that I can't. As if I attempt the same thing, I'm the bad guy.

When my foster cat wants to play, and just dooooooooooesn't get to it. He's all like "Yeah, yeah, let's play, please, please, pretty please *puss'n'boots eyes*?"
And I pull out the laser pointer or the riding crop (yeah... please don't ask what amazon my amazon ads look like right now) or the cat teaser and he's all "Yeah yeah yeah! *jump* *pawn*" and then he reaches that point when he runs behind a corner and kinda hides there and stares at the toy with those laaaaaaaarge eyes, ears twitching, tail twitching, butt wiggling. "Me great hunter, me stalk prey, me wait until it is distracted!" And he's really having a great time.
Only he isn't moving, and I'm standing there, toy in hand, doing shit, and he's waiting and waiting and waiting and it's a bit like having bad sex. You know your partner is having fun, but you just wish the wall were a bit more interesting, lol.

I hate it when people think a food is spicy, but I don't. Logically I can grasp the concept that people have different tolerance levels for food, I get that. But like, when you're out to dinner with a friend and they're like, "Wow, this is hot. I mean, this is really, really spicy. I like spicy food, but phew. This is really spicy." I like, mentally flip the table and scream, "YOU LIKE SPICY FOOD? YOU LIIIIIIIKE SPICY FOOOOOOOD? I HAVE TASTED PEANUT BUTTER SPICIER THAN THIS." I get completely, irrationally enraged on the inside.

When I see a stranger browsing the scented candle or air freshener displays at a store. Even if there's next to no chance they'll use the things around me, I get mad at them for spending money on what, to me, are stinky torture devices.

I am a vegetarian and I hate it when people say they are vegetarian too but they eat fish. They are pescetarian and it makes it difficult for the proper vegetarians like me because we then get some people assuming we will eat fish or fish being in the "vegetarian" part of the menu. It's fine if fish is the only meat someone will eat but that person shouldn't mis-label themselves. And I know there is a word for pescetarian in German too.

I'm like, "Did it once have A FACE?!" I've had people asking me for "vegetarian options" at work all week (because of Lent), and then ordering fish, and it's so hard for me to keep my Customer Service Face(TM) on. Other than that, it really freaks me out when people lick their lips at me while they're trying to decide what to order, especially when it includes horrendous lip-smacking sound effects, too.

I have the opposite problem. People insist something is totally not spicy and then I eat it and I feel like I am actually just eating fire. I tell people ahead of time that sometimes mild salsas are too spicy for me and this shit still happens. Also I get really pissy when people refer to embroidery as cross stitch when there isn't a single cross stitch to be seen. I'll be scrolling through the cross stitch tag on Tumblr and I'll see that...man it takes everything in me not to tell them that's not fucking cross stitch. It's a stupid thing to get pissy about.

I hate it when people make lip smacking sounds too. Especially if they do it constantly like they have a really dry mouth. I also have a friend who talks a lot, and after he's been talking at length, his voice goes weird and gurgly and it makes me think "eurgh GODDAMMIT clear your throat already!"

Oh Gott.. I totally get this. I love cooking african food, which is rather spicy. I always make a portion that practically tastes like water for this one friend. But she looooooooves spicy food. Ruining the meal like that just fucking ticks me off. Also I hate rudeness. It starts of with saying "please" and "thank you". But also tone. Watch that tone. That sales person is not your whipping boy. Also that waiter is not a dog. Stop snipping for them. Or even for whistling. Even if it has nothing to do with me it makes me irrationally angry.

I am way too sensitive when it comes to spicy food, even if something has a little bit of black pepper in it, I can't eat it.

Yeah, it would really make more sense if the people just said they were observing Lent and could you recommend something they could have. A friend of mine who lives in Chile said she thinks that being mostly Catholic is why Chileans totally think vegetarians can have fish, I mean she gets served fish without even being asked if she can eat it, I've not had that, just had people ask if I ate it or seen fish on the 'vegetarian' section of menus. Arg. And yeah I can imagine the lip smacking would be pretty yucky. I also hate it when people make that noise when they suck on their lip cos they are annoyed or something. I haven't heard anyone do it here in Germany but when I lived in London I heard it a lot on the bus, though not usually from Brits, but I hate that sound.

And I am on Jenny's side when it comes to spicy food, ha ha. One thing I really miss in Germany is not having an Indian food restaurant on every corner like we have in the UK. And then when you do get to go to the Indian restaurant here, the curry is wimpy.

"It also annoys me when people walk too slowly in front of me in shops." That gets me no matter where I am. I walk pretty fast naturally and it drives me nuts when I have to practically stop because the people in front of/around me apparently have snails for feet. Also when groups stop and talk in the middle of the sidewalk or in an aisle or hall of some sort. Seriously, if you have to do that, at least move closer to a wall or something so the people trying to get somewhere don't have to potentially endanger themselves to get around you.
