That's sweet!
I love Lilo and Stitch as well ; both because of the personal history I've got with this film and the film in itself. It's got pretty heartwarming themes, and the execution doesn't hurt, either.
I like that Lilo isn't this cookie-clean, perfect child heroine from the get-go, and that she has to evolve and solve her own issues while taking care of Stitch. Lilo and Stitch fight and bicker - as do Lilo and Nani, and not in a "this-is-the-one-dramatic-fight-that's-designed-to-introduce-conflict" way, either. Just... it happens. I think that as a kid, it helped to hear that yes, you can fight and not agree with the people that are dear to you, and love them just as much. (As an adult, too).
... Come to think of it, I might just have a huge weakness for movies about families who fight. Case in point, Xavier Dolan's Mommy. It's my favourite film of last year, and one of my favourites ever. It's fantastic. And I'm not just telling that because of its lead actress, whom I've been in love with for several years now..
Thank you for the lovely horror recs, muskratthemink and blowpop! There are a few things I like more than being scared, but a lot of the films I saw these last years did nothing for me... I'm leaning more towards a psychological kind of horror, and there isn't much of this in "big" horror franchises, and I'm not a specialist, so I'd lost interest in the genre. I'll make sure to have a look at your lists!
As for feel-good films and comedies, there's nothing that lifts up my spirits quite as Monthy Python's Life of Brian.
