The name says it all ;-)
Asparagus season started, thus, I'm making Asparagus with boiled ham and sauce hollandaise, the classic recipe.
But, I'm trying something new: cooking the Asparagus in the oven, instead of boiling it.
Already smells great.

I love asparagus season. I have a giant pile of it sitting on my kitchen island, begging for someone to cook it. Which will not be me because I am a terrible cook.
I bake though! I recently made a birthday cake for my brother and it turned out fabulously. It was a four-tier white cake with lemon/lime zest and white chocolate baked in with a lemon and lime curd between each layer, topped with a whipped cream frosting and candied lemon/lime peel. It was glorious. It was also the first time I had ever made a curd so I was quite nervous, but it came out great once it had set. I'd make it all the time if it didn't take so many egg yolks.
I'm trying to think of something special to make for mother's day but it's proving difficult since my mom has some pretty specific dietary restrictions.

I have a friend coming for lunch tomorrow so I have some buffalo chicken wings marinating in the fridge right now (it's midnight here, so that isn't weirdly wayyyyy in advance or anything). I'm going to make some mini pizzas and a classic Victoria sponge. I totally love cooking and normally take tons of pride in making up new dishes every day but my pregnancy is sapping my physical and creative energy so things have been a little quieter on that front lately.
