Talk about book-drop. I just finished and I think I'm still a bit in shock.
Normally I'm a re-reader, but I'm not sure if my emotions can take a re-read of this series. I don't know if it would be better or worse to know what's coming.

I'm jealous that someone backed a truckload of money up to her house and dumped it on her!

So, what do we reckon? Is she going to try and clean him up and make him palatable? Is it going to try and eliminate and/or explain away as acceptable all the characteristics and traits that so many of us found obnoxious and downright dangerous? Or is she going to ignore us and plod on regardless in the same vein as the Christian POV chapter in the trilogy? I have a feeling that it's going to be a whole lot of him telling himself that he's doing it all because he loves her so much and needs to protect her. I predict it will be nauseating. I will be forever grateful to Jenny for taking one for the team and recapping it.

I've seen very similar attitudes in a discussion of Outlander (*SPOILERS TW*); particularly the scene where Jamie whips Clare with his belt as 'punishment' for her disobedience. During that discussion, most of the contributors found it necessary to defend Jamie and his actions. The old chestnut of 'historical accuracy' was used (although I tend to think 'magic stones guys' demolishes that one) amoungst others. Just curious (really, I don't have a dog in this fight; I've never read or watched Outlander), what's wrong with historical accuracy as a defense for that particular action? I'd love to read the debunking, if you have a link.

I can't imagine how any writer can back this book, if not due to the content, because it's so poorly written! I'm morbidly fascinated by the fact that books of this quality are among the fastest selling of all time. One of my favorite articles on this subject (specifically the use of "argh" in sex scenes) is here: www.theawl.com/2012/06/50-shades-of-argh

I'm Kristy. I'm here because I really enjoy Jenny's blog and books, so I figured I'd check it out.
