Reading the Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout and trying not to bash my head in while reading it. And still have Red Rising. A book and a half to go til I get back to that. *cries* Trying not to bash your head in? Is it that bad?

Yeah same problem with main character in this series. I JUST finished it. Now, don't get me wrong I LOVE reading stories about ancient religions set into modern times (which is exactly what this was) but it was terrible. Here's a link to all the novellas and novels that I read and reviewed. Red Rising SHOULD be a lot better. And it's science fictiony goodness so there's that.

How could anybody read books like that and enjoy them??
Meh, I'm not really in to the whole science fiction thing, or at least I haven't come across one I like.

They're marketed as YA so that's probably how (and I'm saying that as someone who ADORES YA books). Science Fiction I'm hit and miss on. After Red Rising I have 3 Octavia Butler books to read and I hear most of her stuff is Science Fiction so we'll see if I like it or not.

I tend to stay away from YA books, I just don't want to risk my brain falling out because I read another really bad one. There's just too many of them.
There's this one webcomic I tried reading called Gaia, but they have it advertised as fantasy, instead of the science fiction it obviously is. (seriously, the only 'fantasy' related thing is magic you hardly even see) Not only that, but it has to be one of the most boring things ever. Most of it is people sitting/standing around talking, that's it.

I tried reading Gaia, because it's made by the same people who make Sandra and Woo. But while Sandra and Woo started out with a style and sense of humour similar to Garfield, just like Garfield it descended into tired jokes and attempts to make political statements.

I still like Sandra and Woo, but Gaia is something I won't touch again. I never noticed any political statements, but like I said, it's just too boring.

Just bought the last ever book by the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett. The Shepherd's Crown. Opened it up and almost immediately started crying.

I'm reading The Columbus Affair for the second time, and I'm not really sure if I'm going to finish it. It's not that I don't like the book or think it's bad, there's just a main character I have a big problem with. See, the basic plot is Tom Sagan, who used to be a world-renowned reporter, is right about to commit suicide because of how his life has gone for the past eight years. He's stopped just before pulling the trigger by this guy, Simon, who holds a picture of Tom's daughter Alle up against the window. Simon asks Tom to sign some papers to exhume a family member's grave, saying Alle will be in a lot of trouble if he doesn't.
My problem is with Alle. I'm not sure if we're supposed to sympathize with her or not, but I certainly can't. She just comes off as a completely petty, vindictive, self-righteous bitch. Not only does she tell her father to leave her mother's funeral (seriously, who does that??) but she faked being abducted so her father would sign the paperwork about the grave. I can't remember if she ends up dead later in the book or not, but I am really hoping she does.
