I once touched a hedgehog by accident when clearing away a pile of fallen leaves. It hurt! Hedgehog spines aren't just for show. And having one fighting you in your personal areas would not be pleasant. Also, it would be biting and clawing you as well.

I was going to post this in the "Furry Friends" thread, but this one's more popular, and I want as many people as possible to see this video!

Oh the hell... I'm trying to write a super hero story, but as always, I have a way to big cast and thus, am running out of ideas for super powers...
I guess I should delay writing the introduction of the hero team and skip to the fun part, I have all the powers for team villain ;-)

I once read a brilliant superhero novel called Soon I will be invincible! which was set in a world that had lost its' Superman expy. It was told half from the perspective of the super-genius villain (Hence the title) and half from the perspective of a newly recruited team member. Readers these days expect superhero stories to be ridiculously complicated with decades of unexplained backstory, so having a new person joining an already-established team is a good way to ease the reader into it. It worked with the original X-men movie.

It worked with the original X-men movie. It is mostly about the time between the fights and the drawback of certain powers. I thought a lot about, why do people become villains? I ended up with 90% are either Walter White, Robin Hood or a mix of both. My favorite exchange so far, set's the tone best: Mustafa = Sturmbringer (he who brings the storm) Hero Frank = Berserker, Villain Jenny = Thought Control, hero from a family of villains, the protagonist

I started looking for a new horse... I really miss riding and my back is killing me, riding helps.
It's probably not the wisest decision, but hey, life is to short and I have two people who would want to share the horse, so it's not this much of a risk.
Now waiting for someone to answer me. *bites nails*

Dracon’s adventures, buying a horse, part one.
Because horse-people are strange. (yes, that includes me)
First, I will tell you the ideal scenario, when you go to see a horse you’re interested in. You arrive, the horse is still in the stable, or on the paddock. You can see how it reacts to people, to the halter, being saddled. Then you go the to the riding arena, the owner rides a bit, so you can get an impression of what the horse is able to do and what style it’s used to. After that, your riding teacher and you, in that order, ride a bit to get a feel for the horse, see how it’s suited for you.
Well, Sunday, we looked at the first horse. The owner couldn’t be 100% sure if we would be there, she sent an ask but I was already on my way and didn’t get to answer it.
When we arrived, she awaited us, sitting on the already saddled horse, standing in her driveway. Huge red flag. She greeted us, and said, she just doesn’t like to stand much… yeah, right. We went to the “riding arena” nature had claimed it back, all the riding pictures in the add were taken elsewhere. My riding teacher gets on the horse, rides for a bit, getting a feel for the horse, nicely asking it to follow, the way it should be. Meanwhile, the owner asked: “Which one of you is the riding teacher? She seems a bit scared!” Yeah, well, you see, there are two riding schools, the original art form, working with the horse, with its wellbeing in mind, and the newer abomination, working against the horse, dominating it, breaking it. The owner definitely belongs to the latter… The horse itself… no muscles, too thin… very nice horse, lots of thoroughbred, if not a pure one. Not a bad thing, but you never know how much temperament such a horse might develop, if proper fed. The whole farm was…. Awfully kept, from the size of it, enough for 2-3 horses, not 10.
Overall, an unpleasant experiment, even if it was nice to sit on a horse for a few minutes, after a break of a few months. I didn’t realize how much I missed it, until I was back on horseback. But there is now way I would throw money at this woman… so, next Sunday, there will be part two of Dracon’s adventures, horse buying. I’ve already made a date, this time the horse is in a big stable, competition riders, from the videos I’ve got, again the abomination of riding, but sadly, today that is the majority. Should both of my riding teachers have time, we might want to look into the Hannibal Lector outfit from the silence of the lambs, to make sure she doesn’t freak out too much at the sight… And I ordered a few new shirts, I only own nerdy ones, some with dragons or band shirts, not quite the outfit for this bunch of snobs…

And, part two.
We changed plans on Saturday, after the owner of the horse we initially wanted to see told us about some more behavior problems of her horse, that made it a no go.
Anyways, we went to see two horses, first one was... bad. First, we hardly recognized the horse from the, really old, pictures from the add. Horse looked years older than she's supposed to be, no muscles to be found. It got worse, as we got her to move around on the paddock:
Riding teacher: "Your horse is limping. Badly." Seller: "I don't know, are you sure?"
Yes, yes we were, that poor horse could hardly set one foot in front of the other. I kindly suggested she calls a vet and get back to me after that. I mean, sure, both of the dogs greeting us were limping, so it's quite possible she just doesn't see shit. Some people shouldn't have pets.
Second horse of the day, we waited half an hour at the stables, seller was stuck in traffic jam, happens.
First eye roll after as she started riding, the modern way of pull on the rains while pocking viciously with the spurs. My riding teacher rode him a bit afterwards, the horse tested her, he's clever and I would have a lot trouble with him, and there were already hints of some problems with his back, that could lead to more problems in the future. For the horse people, his lineage is prone to kissing spines.
Trying to get to see a horse later today, otherwise it's going to be Sunday in two weeks.

The adventure continues:
Went to see three horses, the first one... horribly ridden, why do people think that's the way to do it? If he'd been younger, maybe, but at age 19, no, when we trained him to be ridden in a healthy way, he'll be to old to be ridden. So, nope. But, the seller had another horse... (well a few more, but only one that would match my search criteria, kind of)
A black mare, 9 years old, so pretty, but she is not really trained yet.
Not the wisest choice, but she reminds me so much of my old horse... *sigh*
After that, we went to see another horse at another stable.
A 16 years old gelding, another really nice horse, well trained, mainly for jumping, knows it all.
The wise choice... but my heart is not in it...
I am waiting for more information on the mare and will probably get to ride her on Tuesday, after that, I'll have to decide.
Live is hard.
