I don't get to dream much these days because baby doesn't let me sleep long enough but I had a whole string of weird-ass dreams last night. The only vaguely coherent ones were: Jenny's book I was in a bookstore and found a new book that Jenny had written about her friend's wedding. It was one of those colourful pop-up picture books with stuff hidden under flaps and things like that, but it was for adults. It was hilarious and full of snarky comments (not about her friend or the wedding, just about people in general). I kind of like the idea of a "kids' book" for adults. Francophone KFC I was walking in an urban area (not sure where but definitely in the UK where I live) with a couple of unidentified friends. We end up in a KFC where, one of the friends tells us, they only speak French. He goes up to the counter, greets the server and converses with him entirely in French. I speak enough French to easily order fast food but I was dubious. "Français ou anglais?" I ask the second server. He shrugs, replies "Anglais?" and I order as normal in English. The third server is clearly new and just looks bemused. After we leave, nobody seems to notice that the tiny outlet has no branding, is shabby and plainly decorated and has a menu with not very much on it; despite this and the fact that there is a regular, shiny, fully branded KFC right across the street, none of us questions the idea that the place we have just visited is indeed an actual KFC. I don't really eat KFC IRL, so I have no idea what that was about. Anyone had any other weird dreams lately?

OK, these are getting weirder. Last night I dreamed I had an Elijah Wood colouring book. That's it. Just pictures of him to colour. Who knows why? He definitely isn't someone I see or think about on a regular basis.

Most of the dreams I remember are the recurring textbook anxiety dreams.
The teeth falling out dream, where I can actually feel my teeth falling or crumbling out of my mouth. I wake up checking the inside of my mouth to make sure all my teeth are still there. I had read that it's stress related or not feeling like I have control over my situation.
Having to be somewhere important and not being fully dressed, usually without pants, or having some other weird obstacle that makes me late for whatever event. I once had a dream where I had to be somewhere for work, and I had no pants and the floor was flooded with soapy water so I couldn't get to the door to leave.
Then there is the having to go to the bathroom and every toilet I go to is broken and/or dirty. That dream I don't mind so much, because I know it's my brain saying "don't piss the bed!"

I used to get those all the time. Being naked in public was one, and another was getting up, quickly putting on my school uniform and rushing out of the house only to realise too late that I left school many years ago and I'm about to go to work dressed as an overgrown schoolgirl

I had a weird dream that Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and I were expert zombie killers. I had a machete, Reese had a flame thrower and I don't remember what Jennifer had (perhaps her sheer beauty made the zombie heads explode). But there we were killing zombies left and right. Which is weird because I don't have strong feelings about the Zombie genre, or those two actresses.

I had a super weird dream last night, and I'm still not sure if it was supposed to be some kind of nightmare or not. Basically, what happened is Satan, at least that's what he called himself, kept trying to get into my house. And for some reason he looked like some really pale goth guy with big curled costume horns on his head. Anyway, he got into my room once and I somehow figured out I had to say "Jesus" five times to make him leave. He turned into a raven and sat on the sill until I opened the window and lifted a corner of the screen thing on it to let him out. After that, he kind of just roamed around my front yard disguised as different animals. Eventually, he took the shape of a cat, which made my sister bring him in. I told her and my mom they had throw the cat out, and surprisingly, they listened, probably because I was pretty freaked out. They put him in the back yard and I watched him change from a cat to a dog, then the raven form showed up next to him. I whispered "Jesus" again and the raven screeched at me, but I can't remember if they actually left.
After that, he showed up in my room again, saying he just wanted to ask me something. I told him to spit it out, then showed him a large vial of holy water. He said he was looking for a family to live with, that he'd agree to whatever terms I set in order to do so. I don't know why I said yes, but I did, saying he'd have to stay in cat mode when other people were around, and that if he impregnated anything, living or not, he'd be splashed in the face with the holy water. He agreed pretty quickly, then turned back into his cat form and started purring against my leg. All I could think was how long it would be until he broke one of my rules.
I don't really remember too much about the third part of the dream, but I think it ended with me saying things were going to get interesting. The weirdest part about it is my family isn't religious in any form, and we don't own any vials of holy water. I don't even know what could've put the idea in my head, let alone what made it turn into a three-part dream. Yeah, I came out of REM sleep twice during all this, which in itself has never happened before.

Wow, mine are never that coherent. That is really weird. That episodic dream thing has only ever happened to me once: I had a seven-part dream about an ex I was still totally crazy about years after we broke up. Each dream brought me closer to him and we always seemed about to get back together but it never happened. Those dreams drove me half crazy.

Oooookay, that was freaky. In last night's dream, I noticed all the clocks were off by several hours, including my watch and my husband's watch. I decided there must have been some sort of magnetic field upheaval that made them go haywire, then realised all the digital clocks were wrong too and I freaked the fuck out because WTF.
Then I had another dream where I had an absolutely enormous crush on movie star Josh Brogan but although we were actually friends, he wasn't interested. I don't mean Josh Brolin because when I woke up and thought about it, it actually turned out to be Jason Segel, whom I have no particular feelings for at all. Obviously his name had escaped me as I was sleeping and I named him after my favourite curry instead. I do like a rogan josh.
