Does listening to a podcast count? I've been obsessed with the Hardcore History podcasts by Dan Carlin for the past few weeks. Currently listening to Thor's Angels.
Also been reading Transoceanic Lights by S Li for a review.

I just finished The Magicians by Lev Grossman and am continuing the trilogy with The Magician King next. It took me a bit to get into the first book but the last 100 pages had me hooked and I read the first 50 pages of the book 2 eagerly. I loved these books.

The Mage's Toy by Meilin Miranda, which is a porny fantasy story from an acquaintance of mine. I'm really procrastinating starting to read through a big book on Asian comics that I need to review for a scholarly journal. I'm going to have to look that up. I'm a sucker for scifi/fantasy porn.

Re-reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series J.R. Ward and the Virgin River series by Robin Carr. I love Virgin River. I got the first book in a bookswap thing, and I read the back and was like, "Oh, good. Small town, abandoned baby, Marine, this is the trifecta of shit I hate, great." But I gave it a chance and I got SO addicted. I had planned on reading Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout as my next book, but I finished Cora Carmack's Inspire and it gave me NA book hangover. Like, reading any other NA after that book wouldn't be fair, LOL. So I started Miramont's Ghost by Elizabeth Hall. I bought it because it was on the Kindle lock screen and it had a creepy house on the front, but I didn't really read the description (I am a sucker for covers). So far, it's about a little girl who's clairvoyant, and it's excellent.

@jenny... the Virgin River series gets sort of predictable but the characters are so awesome I don't mind the formulaic style. Totally made me wish Virgin River was real so I could visit Jack's!

Re-reading Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. As humorous and classic as it is, it's surprisingly depressing in places. I grew up with the TV series, which cut off at a far more upbeat place. In that the main characters were stranded millennia in the past and had just found out that all of humanity was worthlessly ruined by alien stupidity.

I grew up with the radio series, which also ends there for the first sequence. I really prefer the radio show because they were making it up as they went along. All other variations just seem like retcon of the original radio series.

Under the Tuscan Sun is the book I'm reading. But I'm actually currently working on beta-ing my friends fan fiction and reading another fanfiction (from another member on here and reading their story too) And enjoying those more than the book. Which is 100% different than the movie. And both need to be looked at as different stories because they are. Very much.

Currently reading The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord, Strange Devices of the Sun and Moon by Lisa Goldstein, and analyzing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for traces of the Arthurian quest for the Holy Grail.

I agree, the radio series is definitely the best version. Shame not many non Brits know it. They did play the radio show in the US but it was on the NPR network which meant that, well, not a lot of people heard it. My family taped it when it played and the tapes were our entertainment every summer when we made the trek down to Florida for our vacation.

I put down Under the Tuscan Sun because my brain's not processing. So reading a book I got from the library and even though I'm about half through I'm not enjoying it. Dubious consent, despicable best friend character, and soul mates. Ugh. Oh and sex without condoms. Apparently this is book 5 in the series. I'm going to try book 1 tomorrow when I go to the library and get it. But anyway I'm reading Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale by Christine Warren.

Is the book She's No Faerie Princess part of that series? I picked up that one from a bargain table on a lark and found it a bit insubstantial. And yes, the "mate" thing was annoying.
